Ask Siri for NBA scores, your team's next game and the standings

Hoopster answers Siri without opening the app: your team's next game, its last score, where it sits in the standings and tonight's slate, with nothing to set up.

What you can ask

Ask SiriYou get
"When does my team play next in Hoopster?"Your team's next game and tip-off time
"When do the Lakers play next in Hoopster?"Any team's next game
"How did my team do in Hoopster?"Your team's latest score
"How is my team doing in Hoopster?"Where your team is in the standings
"Tonight's games in Hoopster"Every game on tonight
"Open Standings in Hoopster"Opens Scores, Standings or News

"My team" is the team you picked in Hoopster. Tip-off times are in your iPhone's own time zone.

Shortcuts

Every answer is also an action in Apple's Shortcuts app: Next Game, Team Score, Team Standing and Tonight's Games, plus Open Team, Open Player, Open Game and Open Screen. Open Shortcuts, tap +, then Add Action and search for Hoopster to build your own, such as a morning shortcut that reads you last night's score.

Spotlight

Swipe down on the Home Screen and type a team, a player, a game or a story: Hoopster's teams, players, games and news show up in Spotlight, and tapping one opens it in the app.

Control Center and the Action button

  1. Swipe down from the top-right corner to open Control Center.
  2. Tap + in the top corner, then Add a Control.
  3. Search for Hoopster and add Scores (tonight's games) or News (the latest basketball news).

On an iPhone with an Action button, you can put the same controls on it: iPhone Settings, Action Button, Controls.

Hide scores with a Focus

Hoopster also adds a Hide Scores Focus filter, so scores disappear from the app, widgets and Apple Watch while a Focus such as Work is on. See how to follow the NBA without spoilers.

Questions, answered

Do I have to set up the Siri phrases?

No. They work as soon as Hoopster is installed. Say "in Hoopster" at the end so Siri knows which app to ask.

Do Siri and Shortcuts need Hoopster MVP?

No. Siri, Shortcuts, Spotlight, the Control Center buttons and the Focus filter are all free.

Can Siri tell me the score of a game in progress?

Ask "How did my team do in Hoopster?" for your team's latest score. To follow a game play by play without asking, use Hoopster's Live Activity on the Lock Screen.
